5. Exciting Trot Performances and Folk Games in Gyeongju and Andong

Along with the above events, cities of Gyeongju and Andong have also prepared exciting events, brimming with culture, music, and fun! The Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization is rolling out the red carpet with a variety of events designed to delight both returning visitors and tourists.

At the same time, dive into the heart of Korean tradition and contemporary entertainment with the ‘Bokjak Bomun Tourist Complex’ event at Gyeongju’s Bomun Tourist Complex. It’s a tourist district centered around the Bomunho Lake, at about 10 kilometers east of downtown Gyeongju.

Also, it all starts on February 10, for 2 action-packed days! You can enjoy everything from acoustic and electric string performances to the lively beats of trot and traditional Korean music.

Moreover, the event doesn’t stop there! You can also engage in family-friendly activities like folk games, singing contests, and even fortune telling to see what the New Year holds.

6. FREE Charging Services for Electric Vehicle

Finally, along with the above exciting events, you will also benefit from FREE charging services should you travel using Electric Vehicles (EV) during 2024 Lunar New Year holiday.

The Ministry of Environment is also gifting EV and hydrogen vehicle drivers with a free charging service at 10 selected highway rest areas. This include the popular Manghyang Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway.

Furthermore, in preparation for the holiday rush, the Ministry has committed to inspecting and repairing charging facilities by February 8. It will ensure a smooth and efficient service during Lunar New Year 2024 events and holiday. Additionally, efforts are being made to integrate charger availability information into private apps and navigation systems for hassle-free access.

Therefore, starting from February 8 to 12, travelers can enjoy complimentary charging of 20 kW at these rest areas from 9 AM to 6 PM KST, courtesy of mobile electric vehicle chargers. This initiative not only supports sustainable travel but also ensures that your journey is as comfortable and convenient as possible.

So, if you’re hitting the road this Lunar New Year in your EV or hydrogen vehicle, remember to take advantage of this fantastic free charging service. That way, you will also make your holiday travel a little kinder to our planet.
