Where’s the BTS-fame Maengbang Beach?
Things To Do At The Beach
The beach’s atmosphere and beauty are yours to enjoy however you please. But the most typical activities include posing, playing, swimming, and strolling around the surroundings.
Pose With The Props
Many visitors enjoy taking pictures at the photo shoot area on the beach by striking stances identical to those used by BTS in their album.
While all the props are photo-worthy, the sunbeds draw maximum attention. One of the reasons could be because of the vibrant colors of these seats and umbrellas, which nicely contrast with the azure ocean, making the snap very vibrant overall. The other reason is they are placed perfectly to display the water in the backdrop rather than facing the coastline as typical sunbeds do. This enables images to incorporate the wide shore when you are facing the camera.
The referee’s chair is another great spot to take some photos. The most common photo pose is to climb the chair and sit with your hand resting, just like the RM of BTS did. However, this spot remains busy most of the time, so you will likely have to wait in line for your turn.
You will also find a big structure of BTS and yellow signage bearing the name of the album “Butter” on it. If you want, you can use these to take images as well.
Play Volleyball
Playing volleyball on the beach would be a natural decision for you if you love the game and have visited Maengbang Beach with a group of people who share your passion. The net and the balls are just there, adjacent to the chairs. Play as much as you want, and recreate more BTS scenes.
Go Swimming
Visitors frequently enjoy swimming in Maengbang Beach’s clean blue waves. It is safe because the water is typically 1.1 to 1.5 meters deep and slopes gradually. So, if you enjoy getting wet in the ocean, be sure to bring your swimsuit along and capture some amazing snaps with the beautiful background.
Go To The Deokbongsan Mountain
Deokbongsan Mountain is a picturesque mountain cum island situated at the right end of Maengbang Beach and comprises the more developed section of the beach. Since it has made multiple cameos in the BTS video, you have probably heard about it by now.
Locals named the beach in front of Deoksan Beach to avoid confusing the tourists, and it is still regarded as a portion of Maengbang Beach.
To reach the mountaintop, use the man-made wooden footbridge rather than take the arduous walk over the sand.
Evergreen pines and several other unique local plants and floral varieties blanket the mountain. Upon reaching the top, you will get a panoramic view of Maengbang Beach on the left and Deoksan Beach on the right. The ocean’s color change from emerald to sapphire blue is truly fascinating to watch.
What Are The Vacation Facilities At The Beach?
Maengbang Beach is still expanding and hoping to entice investors. Therefore, the beach’s amenities are quite minimal. However, they do a good job of covering the essentials, so that would be enough for a quick trip to the beach.
The facilities available include:
- A parking space
- Place to camp
- Public baths
- Changing rooms
- An area for working equipment
- Small restaurants and shops
You will also find guest houses in the vicinity if you plan to spend a night or two around the beach.
Nearby Attractions
The following neighboring attractions will round out your vacation more completely.
- Samcheok Cheokjudonghaebi & Pyeongsutochanbi Monuments
- Samcheok Culture & Art Center

Happy holidaying!
