Although a residential area, Jamsil has a strong sense of community, and the streets are lined with food stalls, pop-up markets, and some of the best cafes for coffee lovers.

Being located beside Gangnam, one of the wealthiest districts in South Korea, Jamsil could have been easily overlooked. However, thanks to a generation of young people who, through their start-up businesses, have managed to maintain the identity of Jamsil and turn it into a dynamic place. Although still a residential area, Jamsil has a strong feeling of community. Its streets are filled with local food stalls, pop-up markets, and restaurants where customers are treated like family. In short, you get a homely feel once you are in Jamsil.

Regarding food, there are numerous cafes in this area, in addition to local stalls and restaurants. If you plan to visit this place, here are five cafes that you should not miss.

Oh, Linzi

This popular Instagram place is one of the best cafes in Jamsil. It is a charming café and resembles a cozy small house. In the summer months, plants add to the greenery, making the cafe even more beautiful. The interior is open and warm. There are a few tables, and you can sit by the side of the window or on the steps. However, you cannot rearrange the seats, so choose them wisely.

The café is very popular, and therefore, they have limited the amount of time you can spend inside to 2 hours on weekdays and 1.5 hours on weekends. There is always a line to enter, so be sure to visit it early.

All the delicacies are truly delicious, but special mention must be given to the Season Fruit Rare Cheesecake. You should not miss that.

Café Pepper

Café Pepper is another popular café in Jamsil. You will encounter large crowds, even on weekdays, so if you plan to visit on weekends, it is highly recommended that you arrive early and with plenty of time to spare.

The interior is designed in European style with white brick walls and white furniture (mostly), adding to the charm. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is ideal for you, as it offers a wide variety of desserts, including rich and delicious cakes.

Mountain Nook

If you are looking for a naturally healing café, then Mountain Nook is the one for you. It may not look that appealing from the outside, but once you step in, you will feel as if you are amidst a beautiful forest. The cafe consists of 2 floors and is very cozy and peaceful. There is ample seating space, so you can spend hours relaxing here. The third floor is more popular, mostly because of the unique plant decorations there.

Nook and Songnidamgil are the signature dishes here. The Nook is a chocolate cake with berry cream, leaf, and ax chocolate layers. Songnidamgil is a latte with thick cream and cookies on top.

The cafe is slightly pricey, but given the atmosphere and the quality of food, it is entirely worth it.

Sweden Coffee Bjorklands

A cafe with the theme of a tranquil space for mental rejuvenation. It is a cozy and warm space created through the renovation of a spacious two-story detached house. The enticing aroma of coffee permeates the space, and the ample windows provide optimal lighting. The coffee and tea options available in the cafe are of exceptional quality.

This Swedish cafe embodies the owner’s profound thoughts. The cafe’s primary objective is to create a serene and restful environment. The presence of scattered books and the thoughtfully placed literature enhances the overall ambiance, making it an even more enjoyable space. The coffee menu and the coffee’s delectable taste harmoniously complement the space’s ambiance.

Cieltri Cafe

If you are looking to enjoy your food with a great view, we suggest visiting Cieltri Cafe, also known as CL Tree Cafe. You can get an excellent view of Jamsil and Lotte World Tower from the rooftop. As for the interiors, the decorations are artsy, featuring numerous paintings to enhance the space’s beauty.

The foods are delicious, with the seasonal crepes deserving a special mention. Do enjoy them alongside coffee.
