Although a residential area, Jamsil has a strong feeling of community and the streets are full of food stalls, pop-up markets, and some of the best cafes for the coffee lovers!
Being located besides Gangnam, one of the richest districts in South Korea, Jamsil could have been easily overlooked. But, thanks to a generation of youth, who by means of their start-up businesses, have managed to maintain the identity of Jamsil and turn it into a dynamic place. Although still a residential area, Jamsil has a strong feeling of community. Its streets are filled with local food stalls, pop-up markets, and restaurant owners where the customers are treated like family. In short, you get a homely feel once you are in Jamsil.
Talking about food, there are a lot of cafes in this area besides local stalls and restaurants. So, if you have plans to visit this place, here are 5 cafes that you should not miss.
Oh, Linzi
This Instagram popular place is one of the best cafes in Jamsil. It is a very pretty café and resembles a cozy small house. In the summer months, plants add to the greenery and make the cafe even more beautiful. The interior is open and warm. There are few tables, and you can sit by the side of the window or on the steps. However, you cannot move the seats around, so choose the seats wisely.
The café is very popular, and hence they have limited the amount of time you can spend inside to 2 hours on the weekdays and one and half hours on the weekends. There is always a line to go inside, so do visit it early.
All the delicacies are really tasty, but special mention must be given to Season Fruit Rare Cheesecake. You should not miss that.
Café Pepper
Café Pepper is another popular café in Jamsil. You will get to see a lot of crowds even on weekdays, so if you are planning to go on weekends, it is highly suggested you go early and with time in hand.
The interior is designed in European style with white brick walls and white furniture (mostly) adding to the charm. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is ideal for you as there is a lot of variety of desserts available, including rich, delicious cakes.
Mountain Nook
If you are looking for a naturally healing café, then Mountain Nook is the one for you. It may not look that appealing from the outside, but once you step in, you will feel as if you are amidst a beautiful forest. The cafe consists of 2 floors and is very cozy and peaceful. There is ample seating space, so you can spend hours relaxing here. The third floor is more popular mostly because of the unique plant decorations there.
Nook and Songnidamgil are the signature dishes here. The Nook is a chocolate cake with berry cream, leaf, and ax chocolate layers. Songnidamgil is a latte with thick cream and cookies on top.
The cafe is slightly pricey, but given the atmosphere and the quality of food, it is completely worth it.
Lala Bread
Lala Bread is famous for pastries, bread, and desserts. It is a big café with bread and a counter on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor and the basement areas comprise the seating area and are very peaceful and colorful.
This café can be considered a brunch café, too, with pasta and sandwiches included on its menu. Pink Rosemary Tea, Ham Cheese Croissant, and Cold Brew Vanilla Latte are worth ordering while visiting this place.
Pres Coffee
If you are looking to enjoy your food with a great view, then we suggest you visit Pres Coffee. You can get a wonderful view of Jamsil and Lotte World Tower from the rooftop. As far as the interiors are concerned, the decorations are artsy, with a lot of paintings to beautify the space.
The foods are delicious, with the Crowaffles deserving a special mention. Do enjoy them alongside coffee.
