Buam-dong’s unhurried atmosphere allows you to truly unwind. You can explore its charming alleys at your own leisurely pace, soaking in the unique character of the neighborhood.

There are independent galleries and artisan workshops line the winding streets, showcasing the creative spirit of local talent. Picturesque hanoks (traditional Korean houses) and quaint cafes will welcome you to step inside and discover their hidden treasures.

For a truly restorative escape, head to nearby Baeksasil Valley. Lush greenery, the gentle murmur of water, and ancient rock carvings create a tranquil sanctuary, perfect for recharging your soul. Venture further and discover the former royal villa of Seokpajeong. Exploring its serene gardens, breathtaking city views, and quarters used by Joseon-era magistrates will take you back into the olden times.

Gangwon Province – Perfect for scenic hikes

If you are looking for a perfect balance of scenic landscapes, winter sport destinations and simple coastal towns, Gangwon Province is the place to be! All these together make it a wonderful detox destinations in South Korea. The province is also home to Seoraksan National Park – a place full of scenic hiking trails, temples, and breathtaking autumn views. Whether you are a newbie or a skilled hiker, you can experience the joy of completing a trek to the towering peaks of Ulsanbawi. Well, if the climbing hills is not your cup of tea, you can take a cable ride to the tip and check out the impressive views.

If you’ve hiked to the top, you can recharge and detox at Osaek Hot Springs. You can experience these restorative waters for yourself and discover why they’ve captivated hearts for centuries.

You can also visit Yangyang, a surfer’s paradise with pristine beaches. Vibrant outdoor cafes, inviting beanbags and hammocks create the perfect atmosphere for catching waves or simply soaking up the sunset.

Seogwipo Healing Forest, Jeju Island – Wellness walks in forest

Jeju Island offers a unique escape for the mind, body, and soul. Breathing in the fresh air and towering cedars of Seogwipo Healing Forest, a haven designed to harness the restorative power of nature will help you detox. You can also practice of “salim yok” (forest bathing), a science-backed approach to strengthening your immune system and promoting mental well-being.

The 11km of walking trails winding through lush greenery can be quite relaxing. Dotted along the paths, you’ll find inviting footbaths, reflexology paths, and sunbeds, all designed to encourage you to slow down and connect with your surroundings. They will help you fully engage with the beauty of the forest and achieve a state of deep relaxation.

Chuidasun Resort is another place where you can explore calming power of tea ceremonies and breathtaking ocean vistas. Here you can learn about the art of “darye” (Korean tea ceremony) and savor the exquisite flavors of a Jeju-grown tea. You can also enjoy a morning tea meditation session or an evening yoga class, both held on-site.

And if you crave some post-tea exploration, the Olle Trail and the beach are just a short stroll away, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province – City life retreat

Hadong County is nestled in the Jirisan Mountain Valley. The rural town is the best place to retreat when you want to take a break from city life. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the place with no frills. It is also a tea growing town where the best blooms can be seen during the spring season. Whole fields can be seen covered with pink and purple hues of plum trees.

There are many parks near the river, Seomjin-gang, which flows through Hadong. There are also grand rice fields near the Jirisan National Park. No matter what, you can soak up the outdoors and get natural healing at its best. You can also opt for a temple stay program at Ssanggyesa, one of the most important temples in Korea. The temple is also home to elaborate Buddhist music ritual, beompae.

Chaeseokgang Cliffs, Jeollabuk Province – Relaxation at seaside

The dramatic Chaeseokgang Cliffs which towers above the Yellow Sea in Buan look like they are hanging perpetually in a state of calm. Over the million years, the cliffs have been sculpted with steep slopes. Craggy protrusions in this geological site give it an almost otherworldly appearance. As you walk through the tide pools and along the cliff, the crashing waves into the rock make everything super peaceful. You can feel the change and be more relaxed in no time. It is one of the best detox destinations in South Korea if you are a fan of sea side. The sunset can be pretty majestic to watch.
