Sweet Park in Shinsegae Department Store, Gangnam Branch – A dessert theme park never seen before

Spanning across approximately 5,300 square meters, Sweet Park is home to about 43 dessert brands. That makes it the largest dessert hub in South Korea! It is located in the basement of the department store and is adjacent to the Seoul Express Bus Terminal. Its easy access certainly makes it popular among public transport commuters.

It is also home to some of the international shops opening their first outlets in Korea, which include the Japanese pastry pie specialty shop Gariguette, Mille & Un, a Parisian bakery operated by a Korean baker, and Pierre Marcolini, a distinguished Belgium chocolatier.

Five Guys, an American burger chain and Lenwich, the New York sandwich brand are some other big names treating locals and tourists alike in the Shinsegae’s Sweet Park.

While there are many more, here are some of the most popular and trending shops in the sweet Mecca:

Pierre Marcolini

The Belgian royal chocolatier is another international sweets brand that has opened its doors in Korea for the first time. Famous for its macarons, parfaits, and of course chocolate, Pierre Marcolini is one of the best dessert shop in the Sweet Park.

Beton

Famous for its salted butter rolls, Beton is a South Korean bakery with fans among Seoul food enthusiasts. The pastries are simply irresistible – they are buttery, warm, and come with the perfect pinch of salt. It’s a type of salted hotteok. The bakery has its humble roots in Seoul’s trendy Seongsu-dong neighborhood, and is quite a fan favorite among the Generation MZ.

Minute Papillon

With its home in Apgujeong, Minute Papillon is a cafe famous for its churros. The signature dish of this sweet cafe is original churros with dark chocolate. The crispy and chewy texture of churros is just perfect when you are enjoying it with dark chocolate!

The interior decoration of the cafe is also unique. The vintage pink and red colors makes you think of retro movie theaters.

While the reviews are mixed, there’s always a queue outside the store in Sweet Park so plan your visit accordingly.
