Foreigner-Friendly Apps For South Korea Vacation

Foreigner-Friendly Apps South Korea

k.ride

Operated by Kakao Mobility, k.ride is one of the best foreigner-friendly apps for your South Korea vacation. It is a ride-hailing service, especially for tourists. There are helpful features like multi-lingual support, live translation, and international payment options. Even if you don’t have a local phone number, you can easily use this app. Apps like Kakao Taxi generally require that you provide a local Korean number to access all the features and there are limited payment options.

Just like any other cab-hailing app, you can set your destination, find a nearby taxi, and pay using a pre-registered method. This way, you can avoid the risk of surge pricing. There are four language options in the app, namely English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Japanese. But, it has an additional automatic translation function where you can get info in more than 100 languages. This way, you can search for a destination in your native language and tell the drivers without any language barrier.

Signing up is a breeze! You can register using your phone number, Google or Apple account, or email. This app is one of those transportation apps that supports international payment methods.

Catch Table Global

Finding and booking a table in a Korean restaurant is a big issue faced by international tourists. So, the Catch Table Global app helps you with just that. You can find a restaurant as per your preference and pre-book your seating. Some restaurants are exclusive to Catch Table Global and you can’t use any other app to make reservations. Similarly, there are some usually hard to book restaurants also listed here. The app gives you a better chance of getting a table than if you just walk in.

The app lets you book a table on your preferred date or join a waitlist if it’s already full. With notifications, you’ll get a second chance if a spot opens up.

It is also a restaurant review app where you can make a decision based on previous diners’ experience. And, these reviews are genuine and verified by the app, so no promotional material here.

Interpark Global

Interpark Global is your ultimate travel buddy, making exploring Korea’s top spots and transportation a breeze.

With real-time updates, you’ll get all the info you need on travel routes, reservations, pop-up stores, and major tourist attractions. Using big data and AI, it even gives you personalized suggestions and itineraries based on your preferences and the weather.

You can book tickets for transportation, tourism programs, and activities with just a few taps. Plus, you don’t need to worry about verifying your identity with a Korean registration number – just create an account and you’re all set!

Shuttle Delivery

Tired of the crowds and want a cozy meal at your accommodation? Food delivery might be your ticket! Korea’s food delivery scene is legendary, but it can be a bit tricky. Most delivery apps need a Korean phone number and a local ID.

That’s where Shuttle Delivery comes in. Created by expats Jason Boutte and Mark Boesch, this app is designed to make things easy. It has clear English descriptions and offers more payment options without needing an alien registration card. And it also has a listing of some exclusive restaurants that are not available on other delivery platforms, especially in multicultural neighborhoods like Itaewon.

Shuttle Delivery also lets you try a wider variety of food, including Halal, Turkish, European, and vegan options. Plus, it provides customer service in English and supports PayPal and cryptocurrency.

T locker and Lugstay

Traveling with luggage can be a real pain, but these two apps can make your journey hassle-free.

T locker, run by Seoul Metro, has over 330 lockers in 269 subway stations. You can check availability, book, and pay through the app. Prices range from 3,000 won ($2.09) to 12,000 won for four hours, depending on the size. There are also extra fees for longer stays.

If you’re traveling outside Seoul or in an area without subway, Lugstay is a great option.

This app helps you find nearby stores, cafes, or shops that offer luggage storage. You can set your own drop-off time, and the cost depends on how long you need it and how many items you have. And the app also covers up to 1 million won for any issues with your stuff.
