Plan your trip to Seoul and immerse yourself in the world of art this fall. Frieze Seoul 2025 is where the global art scene meets Korea.

Frieze Seoul 2025, Asia’s most anticipated art event, is returning this September with a stellar lineup of over 120 leading galleries from more than 30 countries. It will turn the city of Seoul into a global cultural hub. Now in its fourth edition, the fair will run from September 3 to 6, 2025. Seoul will host the galleries at the iconic COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Gangnam.

The art-packed week will transform the city into an immersive celebration of contemporary, modern, and historical art. There will be events in multiple locations in southern Seoul, including COEX and the vibrant art districts of Euljiro, Hannam-dong, Cheongdam-dong, and Samcheong-dong. Frieze Seoul 2025 promises to be a must-visit for art collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from around the world.

What to Expect at Frieze Seoul 2025

Three Signature Sectors

Frieze Seoul 2025 features three distinct sections:

  • Galleries: The main section will host over 80 established global names including David Zwirner, Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Thaddaeus Ropac, Esther Schipper, Lisson Gallery, Perrotin, and Gladstone Gallery.
  • Frieze Masters: Showcasing artworks ranging from antiquities to masterpieces from the 20th century. New additions in 2025 include Kotaro Nukaga and A Lighthouse Called Kanata from Japan, and Spurs Gallery from China.
  • Focus Asia: Dedicated to rising Asian galleries founded after 2012, this section will feature solo exhibitions by emerging artists. Co-curated by Joselina Cruz (Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, Manila) and Jang Hye-jung (Doosan Art Center), expect highlights from artists like Im Sun-goo, Chu Mi-rim, Jung Eu-gene, and Christine Tien Wang.

  • Europe: The Breeder (Athens), Duarte Sequeira (Braga)
  • Asia: Kaikai Kiki Gallery (Tokyo), Antenna Space (Shanghai), STPI (Singapore), The Drawing Room (Manila), Kiang Malingue (Hong Kong), Tomio Koyama (Japan), Ninagawa (Japan), Galerie Quynh (Vietnam)
  • Newcomers: 10 Chancery Lane Gallery (Hong Kong), Hive Center for Contemporary Art (China), Kenji Taki Gallery (Japan)

A strong showing from Korea includes:

  • Returning Galleries: Kukje Gallery, Gallery Hyundai, PKM Gallery, Jason Haam, Johyun Gallery, P21, Hakgojae Gallery, Whistle, Arario Gallery, Gana Art, Gallery 2, Gallery Baton
  • First-Time Participants: Lee Eugean Gallery
  • Upgraded Galleries (from Focus Asia to Galleries): A-Lounge Contemporary, Cylinder, Barakat Contemporary, G Gallery, and SAC Gallery

Frieze Seoul Artist Award 2025

The event will also mark the return of The Frieze Seoul Artist Award. It spotlights a rising Korean or Asia-based talent with a commissioned project during the fair. The 2025 winner will be announced on June 10, which will certainly add more anticipation to the the fair.

More Than a Fair: Art Takes Over Seoul

Frieze Seoul is not just confined to COEX — it spills into the city with Seoul Art Week. Seoul will shine like an artists’ gallery with a multitude of events across the city.

Frieze Nights

Get ready for after-hours gallery events, artist-led performances, and exclusive pop-ups in cool neighborhoods like Euljiro, Hannam-dong, Cheongdam-dong, and Samcheong-dong. The city’s art scene will come alive after dark, and it’s going to be lit!

  • Euljiro Night on 1 September
  • Hannam Night on 2 September
  • Cheongdam Night on 3 September
  • Samcheong Night on 4 September

Must-See Museum Exhibitions

Coinciding with Frieze Seoul, major galleries and museums will be hosting some notable exhibitions. Some of the exhibitions you must not miss while attending the event in 2025 include:

  • Leeum Museum of Art: Lee Bul retrospective
  • Amorepacific Museum of Art: Mark Bradford: Keep Walking
  • Hoam Museum of Art: Louise Bourgeois blockbuster
  • National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA): Kim Tschang-yeul retrospective
  • Museum SAN: Antony Gormley solo exhibition
  • Seoul Museum of Art: Seoul Mediacity Biennale

Kiaf Seoul 2025: A Perfect Companion
