Eobi Ice Valley is in Gyeonggi Province that’s about an hour away from Seoul. The province is famous for its gorgeous landscapes like Nami Island and Petit France. There’s a natural ice wall at the base of Eobi Mountain between Mount Yongmun and Mount Yumyeong.

Eobi Ice Wall

The ice wall in the Eobi Park is about 25-meters high and shine with delicate icicles and ice crystals create a visual that is stunning and breathtaking.

Imagine a valley that comes alive with water during the warmer months. But when the temperatures drop, something extraordinary happens. The streams and waterfalls that usually flow over the structures freeze, transforming them into stunning columns of ice and countless icicles that sparkle like diamonds.

Car

If you’re driving or planning to rent a car, driving is the best way to get to Eobi Ice Valley. You’ll need a local map app like Naver or Kakao Maps to get there. Under normal traffic conditions, the whole trip should take about an hour.

But here’s a tip: if you type your destination in Hangul, it’ll usually give you a better result. Just type ‘어비산장’ and you’ll be led to a cabin near the park where the ice wall is. You can park in any of the three parking lots there for 5,000 won.

Public Transportation Options

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way, you can take public transportation. Just open Naver Maps and it’ll show you different routes from Seoul. The ice valley isn’t accessible by train, but you can take a bus. The bus ride will take about an hour and cost around 4,000 won.

Taxi is another option but it involves spending more, although it is more convenient and faster. The taxi will cost about 18,000 won and saves a lot of hassle. Booking in advance is your best option as in winters the availability can be tricky.

Tour

If you’re looking for the easiest way to reach the ice wall, signing up for a tour package is the way to go. Klook has a tour to Eobi Ice Wall and other amazing places nearby.

Best Time To See Ice Wall in Eobi Ice Valley

There’s no official website that tells you the best time to visit the Eobi Ice Valley. But the best time to go is when it’s snowing a lot. Korea gets the worst of winter when it’s super cold, and that’s when the ice starts to form. Usually, it happens in January and February, and that’s also when the ice wall forms. If you want to see the ice wall at its best, you should plan your trip during this January or February.

As it is a tourist hotspot in winter when the ice wall forms, it’s best to plan your visit on a weekday. Weekends will be much busier.

Carry heat packs

Winters in Korea are harsh so heat packs can save you a lot of trouble. You can get them in any convenience stores in Korea. Just put them in pocket of your coats to keep your hands warm. You can also use them to pre-heat your winter wear.
