To celebrate Han Kang, the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, Seoul Outdoor Library is holding special sessions. Join in for a special curation of Han Kang works at the Seoul Outdoor Library. Immerse yourself in the captivating stories and poetic prose of this renowned Korean author.
What is Seoul Outdoor Library?
It is a reading space which is hosted in three outdoor places in Seoul:
- Seoul Plaza
- Chongyecheon Stream
- Gwanghwamun Square
Each of these locations have a specific theme and you can borrow or explore a wide selection of of books curated by the library.

Han Kang Special Curation
At each of these locations, a total of 216 books are in exhibition from the ten works of Nobel laureate Han Kang. You can submit your favorite lines from Kang’s work and you will get a chance to win a surprise gift. It will surely add a touch of fun to the whole literary experience.
If you are visiting any of these Seoul Outdoor Library locations, you can also check out a variety of other Korean authors. “Modern Family” by Cheon Myeong-kwan, “Diary of a Murderer: and Other Stories” by Kim Young-ha are some of the popular local works you can explore. Korean classics are also available at these locations, including “The Nine Cloud Dream” by Kim Man-jung and “The Story of Hong Gildong” by Ho Kyun. These works are available in multiple languages, including French, English, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, and Russian, making Korean literature accessible to a global audience.
There was also a “Book Reading Hangang Park”event at the Yeouido Hangang Park where books were placed throughout the park until October 26th. There were several amenities in the park to facilitate reading such as bean bag chairs where people could sit comfortably and read.
