Get ready for a blooming extravaganza this April! The Spring K-Royal Culture Festival (궁중문화축전) in royal palaces of South Korea is about to come alive with a spectacular flower-themed ceremony. It’s going to be a feast for the eyes and a celebration of Korea’s rich cultural heritage.

The nine-days long cultural heritage festival will host a variety of programs for visitors. It will run from April 26 to May 4 and will be hosted by the Korea Heritage Agency and the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center. The festival started in 2014, making it the 11th year of the celebration, and it happens biannually, every spring and fall.

The K-Royal Culture Festival will take place at the five grand palaces of Seoul – Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace, Deoksu Palace, Changgyeong Palace and Gyeonghui Palace — and Jongmyo Shrine.

There are three festival directors who will manage and guide the events at the royal palaces – Song Jae-sung, Koh Sun-woong (chief director at the Seoul Metropolitan Theatre) and Lee Jeong-eun (former DDP Design Fair curator).

The grand opening ceremony, set to take place at Gyeongbok Palace on April 25th, the day before the festival kicks off, promises to be an awe-inspiring spectacle. Koh Sung-woong, the talented director behind the stage, has crafted a breathtaking vision centered around the enchanting theme of flowers.

According to the Korea Heritage Agency, the upcoming festival will be themed ‘flowers,’ representing humanity. The festival will showcase how people have overcome challenges and achieved a peaceful time. Through various artistic performances, the festival will spread a message of hope to the entire nation.

“Time Travel, King Sejong,” the signature program of the festival will be directed by Song Jae-sung. You can immerse yourself in the daily life of Gyeongbok Palace during the reign of King Sejong (1397-1450) of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

Additionally, there will be a traditional crafts exhibition at Changgyeong Palace from April 26th to May 4th. Lee Jeong-eun, the mastermind behind the opening exhibition for the Korean Traditional Culture Center at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, is bringing this show to life. This exhibition will showcase the incredible work of Korean craft artists, allowing you to witness the perfect blend of nature and craftsmanship at the royal palace. It’s going to be a beautiful experience!
