A southern port city also known as the city of film, Busan is a must-visit city if you are a Korean movie lover and traveler. Every year, Busan hosts the country’s largest international film festival, Busan International Film Festival.

In celebration of the growth of Korean cinema on a global scale, a special exhibition of 200 photos of South Korean actors and actresses opened at the Busan Museum of Cinema on May 4.

Korean Actors 200 Photo Exhibition “The Actor Is Present: Busan”

Under the theme “The Actor Is Present: Busan,” the exhibition will run for six months. It features writings, photographs, and videos by prominent South Korean actors and actresses who have received international recognition.

The photo exhibition is part of the ongoing campaign “Korean Actors 200.” It is hosted by the Korean Film Council and organized by the entertainment media company THE SCREEN. The exhibition was held in New York, Seoul, and Beijing earlier.

Renowned photographers Kim Jung Man and Ahn Sung Jin have beautifully captured each actor’s soul and natural side of each actor outside the screen, making each picture a movie in itself that can touch one’s heart.

Moreover, it features 200 prominent Korean actors and actresses, which included 100 of the top actors and 100 of the top actresses. Among them the first Asian Emmy Award winner Lee Jung Jae, and the US Academy Award-winning heroine of “Minari” and “Pachinko,” Youn Yuh Jung.

You can visit the Busan Museum of Movies “Korean Actors 200” exhibition until November 26, 2023 for free.

Things to Do at the Busan Museum of Movies

Located in Yongdusan Park, the Busan Museum of Movies is a four-story building. The building has three underground levels covering 11,302 square meters. The museum includes several halls, including exhibition halls, experience halls, and a Virtual Reality (VR) theater.

In the exhibition halls, visitors can see the history of movies and the latest cinema technologies, a music area with film soundtracks, a book area with novels that inspired the movies, a cinema academy, the BIFF zone, and a Virtual Reality (VR) theater.

The Busan Museum of Movies, organized into a variety of theme-specific exhibit halls, emphasizes engaging experiences while assisting visitors in comprehending the evolution and history of the Korean film industry. The journey commences with a time-traveling train exhibition that elucidates how Busan originally emerged as a hub for cinema. Each theme comprises a film investigation task, designed to reveal secrets of movie-making and incite visitors to express their intense enthusiasm for films.

Visitors can explore the most advanced filming, production, and post-production technologies, including time-lapse filming, chroma-keying, and dubbing. In addition, visitors can experience an illusion tunnel, hand printing, a photo zone, and fun activities for children. The museum has become the city’s latest attraction, where visitors can enjoy everything related to movies.
