Escape the ordinary at Pocheon Herb Island! Explore Korea’s largest botanical garden, enjoy themed zones & witness a magical pink light show.

Nestled in the picturesque Pocheon countryside, Pocheon Herb Island isn’t an island. It is but a haven for herb lovers and wellness seekers. Established in 1998, the park boasts a focus on cultivating Mediterranean herbs. It is the largest herbal botanical garden in Korea. The Healing Center in the Herb Island was nominated as one of the 25 must visit wellness destinations in Korea.

While the outdoor areas might show some signs of wear with faded paint and weathered decorations, they offer a charming, rustic vibe. Plus, the park’s vastness ensures a peaceful and uncrowded experience, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Everland.

Contrasting to the outdoor rustic vibes, indoors is a whole different world. Everything is as good as new! Herb museum, crafting experiences, Santa village, and lavender field are some of the sights you can see in Pocheon Herb Garden.

Things to do in Pocheon Herb Island

There are many different things that you can do in Korea’s herb garden other than enjoying a piece of nature.

Herb Healing Center

It offers different wellness programs which have to be booked in advance. Their booking platform is in local language so you will require a Korean speaker to help you out. There are about 10 different programs with different prices and durations.

Check the official website for more details.

Herb & Plant Museum

Explore a treasure trove of herb-related artifacts, from the first tea bagging machine to a dedicated herb library. The museum tells you the history of Herb Island and delves into the fascinating world of herbs. This multi-functional space also serves as an experience center with massage chairs and a shop brimming with herbal goodies.

Sprawling greenhouses house over 250 types of plants, making it the largest botanical garden in Korea (excluding national ones). You can see the diverse flora and fauna firsthand. And even take home your own piece of nature from the on-site plant shop.

Different Themed Zones

Seasonal Delights at Santa’s Village

This whimsical village comes alive with over 300 Santa statues, especially enchanting during winter with its dazzling light festival. While the Santas might show some signs of wear, the vibrant spring and summer blooms like lavender, basil, and lemon verbena offer a delightful contrast. Come fall, the area transforms into a breathtaking illuminated wonderland. Consider booking a package tour for a hassle-free experience.

World of Venice

Step into a charming replica of Venice upon entering the park. Take a romantic gondola ride or embrace your inner Disney princess with character costume rentals. This whimsical addition adds a touch of lighthearted fun to the overall experience.

Restaurants in Herb Island

Indulge your taste buds at the park’s on-site restaurants. The main Athens Hall Restaurant offers a diverse menu ranging from donkatsu and seolneongtang (Korean ox bone soup) to pizzas – all featuring fresh herbs grown within the greenhouses. The reasonable prices and focus on fresh ingredients make dining at Herb Island a delightful experience.

Festivals & Events

It also hosts diverse events that are worth adding to your itinerary.

  • Lightening Festival
  • Pink Muhly Festival
  • Lavender Festival
  • Scent Shower Festival

You can even plan a day trip to Pocheon from Seoul when you need a break from the city’s bustling vibe.

Pocheon Pink Trees + Pink Lights!

Every evening (except Wednesdays) at 6 p.m., Pocheon Herb Island in Gyeonggi Province transforms into a magical wonderland. Bathed in a soft, pink glow, the vast expanse of the botanical garden takes on an ethereal beauty. It is reminiscent of a field teeming with fireflies.

This enchanting light show is easily accessible after a scenic train ride across the park grounds. And for those seeking a bit of after-dark excitement, bumper car racing is also available!

Pink trees will make you feel like you're in a fairy-tale. Tag someone who comes to mind😊
