Explore the vibrant art scene with groundbreaking works in Seoul with our guide to the must-visit 2025 art gallery exhibitions.
As we enter into the new year, there are so many art gallery exhibitions in Seoul where you can see works of Korean and international artists. And some of these are new to the art scene in Seoul and Korea!
Here are some of the iconic gallery exhibitions to look forward to in 2025.
Arario Gallery
Arario Gallery is popular for its commitment to showcasing contemporary art from Asia. The gallery is stepping into the new year with a renewed focus on promoting Asia-based artists who are gaining international recognition. It aims to represent a dynamic blend of artists from various generations, offering a platform for both established and emerging talents to present their works to a global audience.
The inaugural exhibition of the year is dedicated to Kim Byung-ho, a notable contemporary artist known for his innovative approach to sculpture. Kim primarily works with metal as his medium, transforming rigid materials into delicate, intricate forms that resemble elements of nature. His works explore the tension between the natural and the artificial, resulting in what he describes as an “artificially cultivated garden.”
Gallery Hyundai
In April, Gallery Hyundai will commemorate its 55th anniversary with a special exhibition that highlights the gallery’s long-standing influence on Korean contemporary art. This milestone event will feature a diverse range of works from both leading and emerging Korean contemporary artists who have been part of the gallery’s journey since its early days.
The exhibition serves as both a reflection on the gallery’s rich history and a celebration of its role in shaping the Korean art scene. It will showcase a mix of historically significant works alongside new contemporary pieces, demonstrating the gallery’s commitment to fostering innovation while preserving the legacy of Korean modern art. Some of the artists’ works you can enjoy include Kim Whanki and Lee Ufan, Kim Ayoung, and Moon & Jeon.
The gallery is also hosting a special exhibition featuring the works of Kim Min-jung, an artist known for her innovative use of hanji, traditional Korean paper. This exhibition will run until mid-October, showcasing her unique artistic style that bridges traditional Korean craftsmanship and contemporary art. Her works are often described as meditative, as they evoke a sense of calm and introspection. By layering delicate sheets of hanji and applying natural dyes, she creates abstract compositions that explore themes of time, nature, and impermanence.
Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul
In June, Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul, located in Hannam-dong, will showcase a solo exhibition of works by renowned Korean artist Lee Kang-so. This marks a significant milestone in the gallery’s partnership with the artist, following its announcement last year that it would officially represent him. The upcoming exhibition will highlight Lee’s versatile and experimental artistic journey, spanning multiple decades.
Since the 1970s, Lee Kang-so has been celebrated as one of the pioneers of Korean experimental art, consistently pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. One of Lee’s most iconic works is his series involving rice plants, where he created live installations using water and vegetation, blurring the line between art and nature.

In 2024, Adeniyi-Jones was featured in the Nigerian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, contributing to the exhibition titled “Nigeria Imaginary.” His work, “Celestial Gathering” (2024), reimagined Nigerian modernism and was showcased alongside pieces by other prominent Nigerian artists.
