Step back in time and experience the beauty of traditional Korean houses in Bukchon and Seochon during Seoul Hanok Week 2024.

From September 27 to October 6, 2024, Seoul will celebrate the second Seoul Hanok Week. It is a celebration of traditional Korean houses – hanok – in Bukchon and Seochon. The 10 days long event will showcase modern art exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and cultural tours of hanok.

While attending the event, you can take a leisurely walk across the picturesque Hanok alleys of Bukchon and Seochon. You will also be able to explore the art-infused spaces along with visiting iconic private hanok residences.

All programs, except for docent-led tours, are free to participate in. Pre-register for select events and find more details on the Seoul Hanok Portal (hanok.seoul.go.kr).

Resonance of Space

The “Resonance of Space” exhibition offers a unique exploration of the interplay between contemporary art and traditional Korean architecture. By showcasing works of 10 contemporary artists in 10 iconic Hanoks, the exhibition delves into the unique spatial characteristics of each Hanok and the artistic and spiritual repercussions created by the interaction of the artworks within them.

As you wander through the exhibition, witness the transformative process of reconstructing contemporary artworks within the historical and cultural context of the Hanok space. Immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of each Hanok and appreciate the diverse artistic expressions that come to life within these historic spaces.
