It might start with paying for the subway, trying to find the right bank, or figuring out where to get medical help. What feels simple for locals can become a maze for someone new. With the launch of Seoul Life, created by foreign residents for foreign residents, Seoul is making everyday life more visible, approachable, and—finally—relatable. How? Let’s find out!

Seoul Life: Offering Glimpses of Foreigners Life in Korea

Seoul Life is the city’s newest digital initiative aimed at connecting and empowering its international community.

Managed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the newsletter is written and curated by a team of 12 foreign content creators and 10 professional translators, ensuring every issue reflects authentic voices, not just official statements.

It’s published twice a month, and subscriptions are free for anyone interested. If you have long been curious about living in Seoul – Korea as foreigners, or if you’re a newcomer trying to settle in yourself, Seoul Life newsletter and VLOG will enlighten you with various insights in both Korean and English.

How to Subscribe to the Seoul Life Newsletter

Signing up is refreshingly simple. You can subscribe directly via:

  • 📩 news.seoul.go.kr
  • 📖 Or access the upcoming e-book format via global.seoul.go.kr

Each issue covers topics like:

  • Navigating healthcare and housing
  • Everyday lifestyle tips
  • Local culture and events
  • Personal stories from international residents
  • Resources for students, job seekers, and families

Unlike traditional government newsletters, Seoul Life offers stories with warmth, humor, and real-world utility. That’s because, well, who better to explain the quirks of Korean laundromats or immigration paperwork than someone who’s been there?

Home Sweet Home: A Seoul Life VLOG That Feels Like Talking to a Friend

Alongside the newsletter, Seoul is also launching a new vlog series titled Home Sweet Home. This YouTube-based video series dives into the daily lives of foreigners living in Seoul, from students and creatives to young professionals and families.

The first episode features a student from Uzbekistan, sharing her real-life experiences, challenges, and personal tips for navigating Korean life as an international student. From budgeting tips to how she found her first apartment, the video reflects the small but significant details that help someone feel at home in a new country.

Seoul Life Newsletter and VLOG: Why It’s Different

There’s no shortage of online blogs and Reddit threads offering guidance for expats. But what makes Seoul Life stand out is its official backing with a grassroots perspective. It’s content with heart—informed by lived experience, yet supported by city infrastructure that can actually help you act on it.

It’s also a public recognition that living in Seoul as a foreigner isn’t always seamless. And instead of brushing that aside, the city is now elevating those voices and turning their insight into a platform for connection and community.

“We hope international residents and students in Korea can share helpful information about life in Seoul. We’ll continue providing content that offers indirect experiences for those abroad who dream of living here.”

Lee Hae Sun, Director-General for Seoul’s Global City Policy Bureau

It’s that blend of empathy and structure that makes Seoul Life something more than just another newsletter—it’s a cultural bridge.

What Seoul Life Brings for Future Residents and Travelers

If you’ve been dreaming of studying in Korea, launching your remote work lifestyle in Seoul, or simply spending a few months exploring its hidden corners, this newsletter and vlog can help you start smart.

Here’s what Seoul Life offers that travel guides don’t:

  • Real, firsthand accounts of adjusting to Korean life
  • Advice on common expat hurdles, from finding SIM cards to health insurance
  • Seasonal insights: what to expect in spring, how to prep for monsoon season, and where to find cozy winter cafés
  • Community introductions to fellow foreigners who’ve walked the same path

Beyond Newsletter & VLOG: Bringing You Real-Life Authentic Stories

South Korea is quickly becoming a global hub, not just for tourism, but for long-term residents, remote workers, and international students. As that community grows, so does the need for platforms that listen to its stories and reflect its truths.

With Seoul Life, the city is starting to meet that moment, not just by offering information, but by creating a sense of belonging.
