Beautiful Sunrise Spots in Seoul for a Refreshing Start of the Day

If you are a nature lover and sunrise fascinates you, this is the article where you will find heavenly spots in Seoul from where you can see the first rays of sunrise break through the dark dawn. The hustle and bustle of the day have no presence of mind unless you intentionally bring your attention to the happenings. Still, sunrise and sunsets are that natural phenomena that will make you stop regardless of what you are doing. A start to the day with a nature walk and sunrise view is really how a productive day should begin. Everything seems beautiful in nature’s lap; even a day full of office work might fall under the category. And if you are a foreigner, then you must add these places to your itinerary because these are the most naturally overwhelming you will visit In Seoul.

#1 Gaehwasan Mountain

Nothing can be more fulfilling than sunrise from mountains. Located in Gangseo-gu, Gaehwasan Moutain is nestled in between Hangang River and Haengjusanseong (Haengju Fortress). This spot is famous for its sunset and the marvelous view of Bukhansan Mountain at a glance, and the never-ending Hangang River. It also features a walkable trail leading toward the peak, from where you get the best views.

#2 Ansan Bongsudae​

Ansan Bongsudae is located in an easily accessible area of Seodaemun-gu. Many times, people assume incorrectly that the place us in Gyeonggi-do Ansan. It has a barrier-free trail line leading up to the peak, and you can easily cycle up to the top. The backdrop is the city itself; the view of the sunrise is breathtaking. There is also a meeting plaza for rest and food, located near the back of the Seodaemun-gu District Office. The plaza basically features local tteokguk and Korean snacks and, most importantly photo zone for your Instagram feed. If you have seen the Korean drama “Misaeng,” it will be very exciting for you to know that this very spot was the exact filming location for the first scene of the K-drama.

#3 Mongchontoseong (Mangwol-bong)

If you don’t have enough time to go for a proper mountain trek or just want to avoid the troll of hiking up the mountains, Mongchontoseong (Mangwol-bong) is for you. It is situated at Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, a wide and free space where visitors can easily view the sunrise in peace. The spot is a non-mountainous spot easily accessible by getting down at Hanseong Baekje Station line 9 and Mongchontoseong Station Line 8.

#4 Haneul Park

The way to reach Haneul Park is quite easy, get out of exit one of the World Cup Stadium Station line number six, and a few minutes walk till you reach Haneul Park. The linear, gentle slope makes it very easy to travel and thus, the place is also trendy among families and children. This place also features a silver glass field, which is basically the highlight of the place, the next attraction after enjoying the view of sunrise. The sun will rise in the direction of Bukhansan Mountain. If you reach the place earlier, you can enjoy the sunrise over the backdrop of Sangam Stadium.

#5 Achasan Mountain

Located on the east side of Seoul city, Achasan Mountain is a one of the spots in Seoul where visitors can witness the sunrise at the earliest, and it is where the very first sunrise inside Seoul is seen. The spot is very near, almost twenty minutes from Achasan Station. This place, therefore, has effortless access to public transport. The trails lead up to the peak, and it is very easy to walk up, even for those who are beginners in hiking. The best place to see the sunrise on Achasan Mountain is from the four peaks of the mountains. You also have a plaza located in the center area.
