Hongdae Shopping

Hongdae Boutique Shop Street

In Hongdae, stroll down the road next to Seogyo Elementary School. It’s home to many exciting and fashionable little stores typical of Hongdae. Most of these boutique stores are specifically designed for women’s fashion (although there are a few men’s boutiques in the mix). There are also some vintage shops.

If you’re looking for trendy clothes, head to Hongdae Boutique Shop Street. This street is lined with small stores that sell unique clothing items, accessories, and home decor. You’re sure to find something special here that you won’t be able to find at any other store in Seoul.

Ewha Woman’s University Area

The Ewha Woman’s University Area is a must-visit destination for female shoppers. This area is home to various stores, from indie boutiques and vintage shops to high-end fashion malls. It’s a great place to shop for trendy clothes without paying high prices!

Hongdae Free Market

Open on Saturdays from noon until around midnight. This market has anything you can ever imagine! Every Saturday afternoon at this open-air flea market, from furniture items like chairs or desks to stationery supplies such as pens, pencils, erasers, even vintage goods. There are also food vendors selling popular Korean snacks, so make sure you bring some cash when visiting here.

Hongdae Parking Alley

Most people will go down this road as they approach Hongik University Station from exit 9 in the core Hongdae area. The street used to be Parking Alley because cars were parked in the center, but today there are no vehicles parked in the middle, and the name has stuck. Shops in this zone sell typical goods at highly reasonable rates. There are several boutique stores on Hongdae’s shopping street with edgier fashion, such as bold t-shirt prints with solid statements and hats that need a certain level of confidence to wear. Many of the stores in this area stay open late on weekends, so you can get it if you need another sweater while heading to the club.

If you’re in Hongdae on the weekend, visit this alley as it’s one of the most popular places to shop in the district!

Must-Visit Stores in Hongdae for Shopping

Kakao Friends Flagship Store in Hongdae

The adorable characters of Korea’s most popular chat app, Kakao Friends, can be found at the Kakao Friends Flagship Store in Hongdae. On pencils, phone cases, pillows, and anything else, Ryan, Frodo, Apeach, and the rest of the gang are available to purchase. The Kakao Friends Store in Hongdae, which is run by the company that created the game, has merchandise only available on the app. You’ll get to geek out over the characters’ creation process and become a fanboy/girl. A ticket price discount coupon also accompanies the entry fee, so you can see it for free if you’re buying something else anyway.

Creative Life Store KEY

Despite being a tiny shop in Hongdae, the store has many items with a distinct design. There are many different goods accessible in this store, and you will undoubtedly be able to discover something that suits your preferences among the numerous display options. It’s also possible for the shopkeeper to gift-wrap the item for you, with a little extra money.

MUSINSA Standard Hongdae

Unlike other MUSINSA stores, the MUSINSA Standard carries collection under its own label, just like UNIQLO. It’s a large store with three floors for men’s and women’s clothing. The clothes are trendy and are affordable! A good place to splurge to get the latest drip without burning a hole in your pocket in Hongdae.

Gran Hand

Gran Hand is located on Book Street, along the Gyeongui Line, not only by its distinctive stone ball structure but also due to the aroma emanating from the store. Explore how different smells can impact your emotions.

Yeonnam Cat Frame Store

For cat-lovers, here is a store. Listen to the soothing music of cats singing “nyang-nyangs” while looking around at all of the imaginatively designed items about cats. Be cautious because you will want to buy something once you walk through the “frame stop with the cat” door.

The best way to get an idea of what’s available is by taking a stroll through the streets of this trendy district. Aside from stores, there are also street fairs with different themes that take place throughout the month and a park where you can find spots selling snacks and other goods.
