Why Study in Korea?

It is a great idea to study in Korea for a number of reasons! Here are just a few:

  • Korea is a safe and welcoming country. The 2018 World Happiness Report ranks #11 out of 156 countries in happiness and well-being.
  • Korean universities are popular worldwide for their excellence. Seventeen Korean universities made it onto the QS World University Rankings 2019, including Seoul National University (#37) and Yonsei University (#47).
  • Studying in Korea is an excellent way to learn more about the country’s fascinating culture and history. From traditional architecture and cuisine to K-pop and television dramas, there’s something everyone can enjoy in Korea!

The benefits of language schools & study abroad programs:

  • Learning and traveling at the same time is possible.
  • Universities in Korea offer language programs to help people learn Korean.
  • Discover Korea’s traditional culture as well as its latest trends.
  • A wonderful learning and living atmosphere.
  • Tuition is not excessively expensive.

If you are interested in studying the Korean language or participating in a short-term study abroad program, there are some qualifications that you will need to meet.

To enroll in a Korean Language Program, you must have finished secondary school (high school level equivalent). The Korean Language Program usually takes one to two years to complete.

It is necessary to enroll at a university that offers short-term study programs in Korea before you can study there. The programs available range from one semester long to one year.

Planning for a Korean Language Program and Studying Abroad in Korea

The first step in applying for a Korean language or study abroad program is to look for the institution and area of study that interests you. Korea has numerous institutions of higher education, each with its curriculum and credit-earning time requirements. As a result, students are urged to research each school’s course list before enrolling.

Enrollment deadlines differ by institution, so check the school’s website ahead of time. The deadline for submitting spring semester applications is usually between September and November, while fall semester applications are accepted until June or July. Planning is key when applying to study abroad programs. By thoroughly researching requirements and speaking with your home university or the institution in Korea, you can make the application process much smoother. Remember that the enrollment and visa application process can take several months, so we recommend planning at least six months.

Choose a program that is just appropriate for you based on your Korean proficiency level, goals, and what you want to accomplish as a student in Korea.

Prepare all the required documents:

To study in Korea, you’ll need a student visa. The first step in applying for a student visa is to gather all the required documents. These documents include the following:

  • A completed application form (obtained from the embassy or consulate)
  • A passport-sized photo
  • Your passport
  • Proof of university admission
  • Proof of financial stability
  • A health certificate
  • You may need to submit additional paperwork depending on your choice of institution and program.

Submit the application

Before submitting your application and required documents to the school of your choice, ensure that you confirm that all requirements have been met by checking the school website. This way, you can avoid any stressful surprises or delays in processing.

Pay tuition fee

You may pay your tuition either by SWIFT from your bank or through a Korean bank branch office in your nation if one is available. To avoid late fees, make the payment as soon as possible since international wire transfers take time to complete.

Apply for a visa

After you have been admitted to a Korean institution and have received your admission letter, you can apply for your student visa at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate. The application process is usually straightforward but checks with the embassy or consulate in advance as requirements may differ by country.

Get your residence permit

Once you arrive in Korea, you must go to immigration and get a residence permit within 90 days. You have to submit the following documents:

  • Your passport
  • Your alien registration card
  • One passport-sized photo
  • Your admission letter from a Korean institution
  • A certificate of deposit showing that you have paid the tuition fee
  • Proof of medical insurance
  • Your residence permit application form (obtained from the immigration office)

After you have submitted all the required documents, the immigration office will issue your residence permit. Remember to always keep your residence permit with you, as you will need to show it to officials upon request when you come to Korea for studying.

Now that you know how to apply for a Korean language or study abroad program, it’s time to start planning your adventure! Korea has much to offer students looking to learn more about the world and themselves. With its rich history, beautiful landscape, delicious food, and friendly people, Korea is the perfect place to expand your horizons. So what are you waiting for? Start researching programs today if you plan on studying language programs in Korea!
