Check out the best vegetarian restaurants in Daegu where you can enjoy delicious preparations of traditional and global cuisine dishes!

Although Korean street food is primarily centered on meat-based cuisines, South Korea also takes pride in its wide array of unique vegetable preparations that come under the roof of traditional Korean dishes. One of these is obviously the globally loved kimchi. Although meat still remains an irreplaceable part of their cuisines, there’s a wide shift to a vegetarianism culture. The focus is constantly hanging even in the cities outside of core Seoul areas. Restaurants are constantly adapting to various vegetarian cuisines to keep this wave of vegan and vegetarianism along with other cuisines for people with special dietary preferences. So, not all restaurants in Daegu that claim to be vegetarian are purely so, and they do offer some exciting veg cuisines that are absolutely not missable. Let’s go check out the top 9 vegetarian restaurants in Daegu.

If you’re craving some scrumptious scorched rice, you might as well ring them up for a reservation. They are absolutely genius in all matters veg. But if you are ever here, you cannot miss the real showstopper – the ssamjang, traditional cuisine made of a perfectly balanced paste of spicy beans. Hummus lovers, this is the place to be! Not enjoying the chickpea dip of Nazar Kebab is a serious crime to commit when you’re here. It is practically a well-known item on the menu that travelers are crazy about. Nazar Kebab is a Turkish restaurant serving a lot of other scrumptious Turkish delicacies, not to miss their falafel kebab (which for sure, you cannot stop at just one piece!).

New Saladdin

New Saladdin owes its roots to the brothers Shafiq and Rashid Ahmed, known for their 20 years plus of experience in curating appetizing and traditional cuisines of Indian-Pakistani origin that you cannot find elsewhere in Seoul. So, New Saladdin is a must-try for indulging in some authentic cuisines along with some of Daegu’s best-served curries. The choices in fresh, flavorful, vegetarian options are plentiful, and the service is extraordinary. The restaurant’s cozy ambiance will make you feel the warmth of Indian – Pakistani hospitality, not to mention it is indeed a great place for enjoying a relaxed dinner.

Borisu (보리수)

Those craving a bowl full of assorted fresh veggies at a pocket-friendly price should straightaway head to this Deagu’s pride restaurant – Borisu. Opting for their famous dish dolsot bibimbap is something not uncommon for even the veggie-hating foodies. This veg cuisine owes its root to Korea and comprises a hot stone bowl filled with white rice garnished with colorful assortments of veggies and scrumptious Korean condiments (for vegans, an equally luscious replacement would be sans egg). Borisu’s “Nutrition Rice” is another unmissable cuisine. It is a preparation of rice cooked along with the season’s fresh jujubes, chestnuts, and several other beans and nuts. Plus, you get plenty of options as sides to enjoy this. Hop onto a couch next to the spacious courtyard to enjoy a fulfilling meal within the Borisu’s peaceful ambiance.

Loving Hut

Loving Hut belongs to the internationally famous chain of vegan restaurants. It was opened in Daegu by Supreme Master Ching Hai, who is an advocate for a healthy, vegetarian lifestyle. The comprehensive menu items list salads, sandwiches, sushi, burgers, and desserts. Apart from these, you get to enjoy various other Korean cuisines, various tofu-based preparations, and soy-based recipes. All of the dishes served by the restaurant are 100% vegan.

EtOH Drafthouse

Known to be one of the best places for craft beer bars in Daegu, EtOH Drafthouse is not only a beer place but also serves a yummy choice of richly-prepared, handmade veggie pizzas. Furthermore, you also get vegan substitutes for the dough and the sauces used by EtOH in the pizza. Visitors often get exciting rewards on their bills throughout the year. With a dollop of their vegan sauce on a yummy pizza topped with your favorite choice of veggies, bon appetit!

Balaji Restaurant

Balaji Restaurant is a renowned name in Daegu for its eclectic choice of delicious vegetarian preparations. As the name points out, the restaurant also serves Indian cuisines like Naan, Biryani, and other curries. They are totally worth the time and money. Even for some delicious Indian-Nepali cuisines plated in a purely veg style, you can visit Balaji anytime you’re in Daegu and fancy some authentic Indian cuisines.

Hi Thai

Hi Thai stands for one thing – absolutely delicious. Their top recommendation is green curry in authentic Thai style. Their drunken noodles taste equally good. In fact, they follow unique customer service. If you have to wait outside anytime you visit, they will take your order while you’re outside and plate your food immediately as you get a table. You should absolutely try other yummy items: the Shrimp Pad Thai (in Thai style, of course) and Drunken Noodles served with chicken.

Deira Restaurant

The traditional Korean food jeongsik, an entire meal of rice loaded with yummy sides, is the primary attention-seeker in this no-frills Daegu restaurant claiming to be vegetarian. You will get the largest assortments of Korean classics here.

You can find dishes ranging from japchae nurungji to even the delicious sweet potato and starch noodles with stir-fried vegetables. Deira is one of those rare restaurants that make the most authentic Butter naan and paneer dishes if you ever fancy a vegetarian meal while in Daegu. The ambiance is on-point dreamy and gives a traveler-friendly vibe while the hospitality is unforgettable.

Pan

Pan is an absoluteone of the must-try vegetarian restaurants in Daegu to have a cozy lunch meal, fulfilling to the T! The place boasts creative cooks who curate and alter the menu items seasonally. You can get a taste of the season’s specials to their visitors. In fact, there’s a high chance you will find it difficult to order one thing from their extraordinarily transparent menu that reveals exactly how a dish looks like to what it contains. Their soups are a must-try. Apart from that, there’s no regret even if you try a completely new dish on the menu. They are fabulous in the taste aspect!
