When the phone rings kdrama filming locations

The RAUM – Episode 1

Kicking off our “When the Phone Rings” Kdrama filming locations tour is RAUM Art Center in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (also known as The RAUM). Here, we see Baek Sa-eon (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) attending a glamorous party with Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) by his side as his sign language interpreter in Episode 1

RAUM is Korea’s very first social venue, a four-story complex that opened in April 2010. Inspired by Scotland’s Skibo Castle, it hosts everything from world-class performances to parties, banquets, and dreamy castle-like weddings. If you want a taste of European grandeur right in the heart of Seoul, RAUM Art Center is the place to be.

E.N. Gallery – Episode 4

Episode 4 flashes back to a childhood memory, revealing how Baek Sa-eon (then played by Lee Jae-joon) and Hong Hee-joo (Shin Yeon-woo) first met. He offers her food, and the heartwarming scene unfolds at E.N. Gallery.

Opened in May 2017 as both a café and an art shop, E.N. Gallery quickly caught the eye of art lovers and coffee enthusiasts alike. As of September 2023, it’s expanded into a premier destination for contemporary art, showcasing works by both up-and-coming and established artists. So, grab a hand-drip coffee while admiring unique pieces—this spot blends creativity and caffeine in the best way possible.

Aqua Planet Ilsan – Episode 6

In Episode 6, we find Hong Hee-joo meeting Hong In-a (Han Jae-yi) at a serene aquarium. Here, In-a shares her life-changing news that she can now hear—and that she knows Hee-joo can talk.

Aqua Planet Ilsan introduces visitors to an incredible array of marine life, shining a spotlight on the importance of preserving our ocean ecosystems. If you want to feel that sense of wonder the characters experienced, take a leisurely stroll through the aquarium’s glass tunnels and get up close to some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures.

Samsung Haemaji (Sunrise) Park – Episode 6

Also in Episode 6, Baek Sa-eon goes for a run through Samsung Haemaji Park, chatting over the phone with Hong Hee-joo (as Caller 406), where they agree to ask each other one honest question.

Formerly a water supply facility, the reservoir area was converted into the best public park to visit in 2022. From the top, you’ll spot breathtaking views of the Han River, COEX, and even Olympicdae-ro in the distance. True to its name, “Haemaji” (sunrise), the park is also famed for its early morning panoramas. If you’re an early bird, don’t miss the sunrise spectacle.

  • Address: 39 Yeongdong-daero 128-gil, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea.

Baekdudaegan National Arboretum – Episode 6

Another highlight from Episode 6 is the team retreat featuring Baek Sa-eon, Hong Hee-joo, and their colleagues.

The Baekdudaegan National Arboretum, nestled in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, offers a refreshing slice of nature away from Seoul’s hustle. While not much is shown in the drama, it’s a perfect spot for group activities and workshops.

Surrounded by lush greenery, this center is a peaceful getaway where you can immerse yourself in Korea’s natural beauty.

Bibongsan Observatory – Episode 6

Continuing the Episode 6 adventures, our characters go hiking on Bibongsan Mountain. Though it’s only 230m above sea level, it stands out because there aren’t many other high peaks nearby.

From the Bibongsan Observation Deck, you can see Cheongryongsa Temple and the Hoesangnaru tourist site below. Even though the view might be partially obstructed, it’s still a refreshing escape from the city’s bustle. It’s a quieter vantage point compared to some of the more famous mountains, making it ideal if you’re in search of peaceful panoramas.

  • Address: South Korea, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju-si, Jungdong-myeon, 오상리

E-World – Episode 7

When Hong Hee-joo (as Caller 406) finally agrees to meet Baek Sa-eon in Episode 7, they choose E-World, a European-style theme park in Daegu.

Built around a soaring tower, the park opened in 1995 and boasts waterfalls, fountains, colorful light displays, and a wide variety of attractions. From thrilling rides to family-friendly playgrounds and lively plazas, there’s something for everyone here. If you want your own Kdrama-worthy date scene—or just a day of fun—E-World is your spot.

Gyeongcheonseom Park – Episode 10

In Episode 10, a dramatic moment takes place when Hong Hee-joo passes out in Park Do-jae’s car, and she dreams of a normal life with Baek Sa-eon. Gyeongcheonseom Island sets the stage for this dreamy scene.

Known for its harmonious mix of Nakdonggang River views and surrounding cliffs, this park instantly transports you away from city life. Hike up to the Hak Observatory for a sweeping sight of the island below, and let your worries melt away, just like Hee-joo’s did.

  • Address: 968-1 Osang-ri, Jungdong-myeon, Sangju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea

Bellacitta, Ilsan – Episode 12

In Episode 12, Hong Hee-joo finds herself at Ilsan Bellacitta, waiting (rather anxiously) for Baek Sa-eon to return.

Bellacitta is a stylish lifestyle shopping center that marries indoor retail therapy with cultural experiences. The centerpiece is a lawn plaza where you can breathe in fresh air as you take a break from browsing. If you love combining shopping with a touch of leisure, this is the perfect place to channel your inner drama heroine waiting for a fateful reunion.

Saryeoni Forest Path – Episode 12

The final site of “When the Phone Rings” Kdrama filming locations is just as fittingly a magical spot. Saryeoni Forest Path on Jeju Island appears in Episode 12, when Baek Yoo-yeon (Yoo Yeon-seok) returns to Korea and reunites with Hong Hee-joo.

This tranquil forest is famous for its dense Japanese cedar trees, along with oak, birch, and cypress. It’s also recognized as one of Jeju’s top hidden gems. Perfect for a rejuvenating hike, the Saryeoni trail is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience Jeju’s lush natural beauty.
