Visit the Yuseong Hot Spring for relaxation

Although Yiuseong Hot Spring appears to be misplaced amid skyscrapers, it has withstood the mocking eye for many years.

The spring’s alkali bubbles emanate from a depth of 200 meters with a temperature of up to 56 degrees Celsius. The hot spring, Korea’s oldest, has calcium, potassium, zinc, Sulphur, carbonic acid, silicic acid, and traces of radium in its water. For many years the spring has been used for therapeutic purposes.

According to an ancient chronicle, the Taejo of Joseon, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty, bathed here in 1393 while seeking a location for his capital.

The popularity of springtime grew after a legend from the 7th century. A soldier who was injured healed after his mother saw a crane dipping its injured wing in water.

Take the Gyejoksan Mountain Red Clay Trail for a walk

Walking along the Gyejoksan Mountain Red Clay Trail is therapeutic. This eco-trail is for barefoot walking, and there are numerous spots where you can wash and dry your feet along the route. This walk is ideal for beginners. It has a short elevation difference and thus is easy to complete. The red clay route joins the paved path, allowing you to travel either one at your leisure. You could also divert to the ancient fort on the route, but wear your shoes if you desire to explore.

At Ppuri Park, reflect on your filial piety

Ppuri Park or the Root Park is a fantastic park and one of its kind in the nation, with the theme of filial piety. The park has 136 unique stone sculptures depicting family names from history. An ecology forest, a deep-rooted spring, and an octagonal pavilion can all be found at the park.

The Samnam Memorial Tower in this area reminds the harmony between Korea’s ancient western Honam and eastern Yeongnam regions.

Other sights, filled with ancient symbols, include the Deep-rooted Spring with 12 branches, one for each of the jisin (gods of the earth) and a sasindo (a mural of the four guardian deities). There’s a recreational forest in the park where you can meander and a fleet of duck boats for rent on the lake.

As the name implies, the National Science Museum has many science-related exhibits, including an Astronomical Hall, which is the country’s biggest dome and contains a re-creation of the nighttime sky. The museum has explanatory plaques in English and Korean, allowing visitors to learn what each item is about. To see everything within the museum, you will need at least a full day.

At the Sung Sim Dang Bakery, try some unusual sweets

Sung Sim Dang is a bakery that has lasted for more than six decades. Despite high demand, the proprietors refused to open additional shops to add to its existing three throughout the last six decades. The bakery is attractive with its carefully displayed delectable-looking goods.

You’ll discover things you’ve never seen before, such as the pantalon booch, a bun containing egg, tofu, and sliced Korean chives.
